The feature is activated whenever the head unit is disconnected from the power source. After repairs or replacement, you will need to reset the access security code before operation of the stereo is possible.
You can take the Toyota to an authorized Toyota dealership or service station to have the code reset, or you can do it yourself and save time. Turn the Toyota's ignition to the "On" position to provide power to the stereo. Turn on the stereo head unit by pressing the power button located at the top-left corner of the stereo's face.
Press and hold the first preset button marked with a "1" and the arrow up button on the left side of the stereo's face. Release the buttons once the series of dashes appear on the stereo's display. Press the numbered preset button corresponding with the first number of the stereo code. For example, if the security code starts with "4," press the fourth preset button below the stereo display.
Press the right arrow to move to the next digit in the code. Enter the remaining digits using the preset buttons. The radio will power off when the last correct digit is entered. Press the power button to use the stereo. Repeat Steps 3 and 4 if the stereo does not accept the code you have entered.
You have three chances to enter a correct code. After three unsuccessful attempts you will need to take your vehicle to a dealership or service station to have the stereo unlocked. I have been reading about people who have taken their battery clamp off for 24 hours so the ECU resets. Then taking it out for a good drive so the ecu "learns" the driving style and "tunes itself" to suit the mods on the car. I read that it makes a good performance gain. Is this true? Re: Reset ecu to gain performance? Depends on the car.
You can also just take out the ECU fuse for seconds for the same result This is my understanding of it So if you reset the ECU and then drive the car hard for a while, it will be well trimmed for the hard driving and most likely produce better power.Import gotham font
The computer will continue to adapt to your current driving style though by averaging out the signals over a period of time anyway though so in some cases no improvement is seen anyway as the ECU has already adapted to the 'best' tune possible for the given factory parameters.
This only works with factory ECUs though obviously. Originally Posted by X kyle X.Toyota ECU immobilizer bypass/Toyota Fortuner ECM reset/ starting problem
With bigport 4AGE's it is apparently along the lines of warm up the engine, reset the ECU as above, restart and keep the engine revs over rpm for a given period which I cannot recall. If stock ECU's can "self tune" themselves to work with your mods, then whats the point of getting after market ECU's that have to be tuned by a tuner?
Not to mention the fact that aftermarket ECU 'trims' are from and not from Kind Regards, Kurt. Aftermarket ECU's can also control different mods. Also if you go from a 50mm throttlebody up to a 90mm And then there are advancements in technology MIne runs better for a few days after an ECU reset and then slowly goes back to factory slug tuning.By kevy1June 2, in Prado. Everything works fine except I have all the warning lights on the dash on and no Speedo and Cruise control doesn't appear to work either?
Has anyone been along this road or do you know of anyone who can fix this problem?
I have done them by disconnecting the battery and rubbing the positive and negative together to discharge the car of power, it is safer though to leave it disconnected for 10 minutes. As Texasoil says : What gets most 'techs' is lack of understanding! A few visits to the Local dealers made us realised these people did not have a clue and could be quite expensive talking about changing the whole system!!!
Anyway, the AHC was resetting itself after a while. I tried to understand how it works, with the help of my EPC disks remains of our HDJ80 and a visit underneath the car and within the engine area.
Hydraulics can be easily understood, but the electronics or computer logics without a manual is just impossible.
So I bougth a FSM 4. Then I started to have this bumpy ride on the rear that can be. I discovered HiMud forum, understood why we could have the AHC on Low when trailing; did the test of the marks and found a difference of 12 graduations on the reservoir!!!!
Well,I had the local dealer to double check if the price of brand new accus was for real, and decided to go for second hands not easy and quite long to ship from B and B ; and It remained for one week, then disappeared, with pump working again. I did avoid to use the car until we received the accus. The day I changed them, the OFF sign was there again blinking one time per second approximatively.
After changing the old accus membranes were indeed flat outpump still did not work; I tried to bleed off the pump by releasing the HP outlet same piping for discharge and return ; liquid go thrubut pump do not start. Now, this is all I can do without understanding which safety sensor or which logic need to be reset. I did read the thread about resetting the DTC diagnostic trouble codeor starting the pump manually ; and as a first contributionI join here a schematic of its PINs.
